Star Wars Jedi: Survivor isn't even out yet and EA is already promising performance improvement updates

Star Wars, and Respawn fans hoping to jump into the world of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor the moment it goes live, may be disappointed to learn that it has some big performance issues at launch. Problems caused by poor technical performance haunted the first game, Jedi: Fallen Order, too. Despite being a current-gen exclusive, it seems players will still have to put up with a few bugs and performance problems if they play it soon. EA's official Star Wars Twitter account posted a tweet on Wednesday (sometime after reviews went live) promising that the game's first patch will arrive on launch day, April 28. This is only the beginning, however, as you can expect even more patches "in the weeks ahead." Read more

The Last of Us Part 1’s Intro Has One Immersion-Breaking Flaw

A player going through The Last of Us Part 1 stumbled upon an immersion-breaking flaw that can take any player out of the experience. Immersion is a significant factor regarding single-player games, and many aim to excel at this aspect, as it is one of the many reasons why single-player games are still popular among other genres. Feeling like part of a living and breathing world goes a long way in the players' experience, but a recent screenshot breaks all immersion in The Last of Us Part 1.

Elden Ring Invader Gets The Jump On A Host Who Should've Known Better

One Elden Ring invader is able to get the jump on their prey when the hosts really should've known better. When it comes to Elden Ring, players usually have to take on PvP much differently than the game's PvE. When going up against normal NPC enemies, they are usually following their AI and programming. While aberrations are sure to happen, mostly glitches or cases where enemies like the Ulcerated Tree Spirit can grab players through walls, Elden Ring's foes can be quite predictable. This is not so much the case when getting into the game's PVP, as that is where real people are playing, who often think outside the box. In many cases, it can be hard to get the jump on the hosts, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Dead by Daylight healing time brought back to normal after player feedback

After some feedback from Dead by Daylight players over a change that meant it took longer to heal, Behaviour Interactive has changed it back to the original length. Before anything heads out on to the main Dead by Daylight servers, Behaviour Interactive typically tests things on the Public Test Build (PTB). The Tools of Torment Mid-Chapter recently arrived on the PTB, and it introduced a change that increased the base healing time from 16 seconds to 24 seconds, which quickly proved to be controversial. In a blog post, Behaviour noted that it knows changing something like this is "a very touchy subject, so we kept an extra close eye on this change to see how it would play out." "After reviewing player feedback, we found that many of you agreed that the speed which you heal others was already in a good spot prior to the update," Behaviour continued. "This change also had knock-on effects elsewhere in the game, making effects like Mangled and Hemorrhage stronger and making ‘slugging’ (leaving Survivors in the dying state) even more effective. Therefore, we have reverted the base healing time to 16 seconds." Read more

Resident Evil 4 Remake gets microtransaction DLC you just don't need

Capcom has added some pointless microtransactions to Resident Evil 4 Remake that just let you unlock any weapon's exclusive upgrade instantly. It's pretty obvious Resident Evil 4 Remake isn't a live service title. Nor is it an online game, or the like. So why it's just received some DLC that serves no purpose other than unlocking a better version of your weapons earlier than normal is anyone's guess (cough, we all know the reason, cough). Each weapon in Resident Evil 4 Remake has a unique upgrade that massively improves it, with each having different properties from the other. The Matilda, for example, received double the amount of ammo capacity, and the Handcannon has unlimited ammo. Typically, if you wanted to buy their exclusive upgrades you'd have to max out a weapon's regular upgrades before being able to. These weapon tickets let you skip all that, though, so you can unlock the exclusive upgrade any time. If you're that desperate for any of the upgrades, it does save you saving up as much as 100,000 pesetas. Read more

VG247's The Best Games Ever Podcast – Ep.46: The best game that features a 90s star

For all of its faults, the one thing you can say about Crime Boss: Rockay City is that Vanilla Ice is in it. Which reminded us of a thing that happened a while back: it was called "the nineties", and it had loads of good stuff, like the Amiga, Fido Dido, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. But the nineties were a great time for personalities. Snoop Dogg. Pamela Anderson. Tony Blair. Loads of them. Chyna from the wrestling. The Churchill insurance dog. Bob Mortimer. I could go on. But it was a long decade and there were literally billions of people involved (George Clooney, there's another one). The question we're asking today is: what is the best video game that features a 90s star? As ever, the game is in how you interpret the question. To find out which game (and 90s 'sleb) gets inducted into the VG247 Hall of Fame, you'll have to listen to our podcast. Luckily for you, this is it here. Just FYI, not a single person said Rise of the Tomb Raider, which would obviously have been the winning choice, given that it's excellent, features possibly the most 90s star imaginable in Lara Croft, and represents a late 20th century new-media fusion of art and personality the likes of which we had never experienced before, but nowadays we take for granted because we have vtubers and Damon Albarn pretending to be a cartoon and all that carry on.
