Lego finally reveals its Legend of Zelda set as money mysteriously vanishes from my bank account

After several rumours and at least one leak, the official Lego Legend of Zelda set has been officially revealed.

The big problem with Lego, is that it's so easy to look at a set and think "gosh, I bet that'd be fun to put together, maybe I should pick it up." Why's that a problem you ask? Well, because Lego is damn expensive, and this newly revealed Legend of Zelda 2-in1 Great Deku Tree set is no different at £260/ $300. And yet, damn it all, I obviously want it because it's Zelda, and it's Lego, and it's the first Lego Zelda set! You can see a short trailer revealing the set below, highlighting the fact that it's a set based on the Great Deku Tree from both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, with the option to build either one of the versions.

On top of that, there are some great little pieces too. There are four mini figures included, one of Breath of the Wild's Link, one of Zelda, and two Ocarina of Time Links, the young and adult version respectively. From Breath of the Wild there's also some very fun Korok and Hestu builds too, and from Ocarina of Time there's things like those pesky Deku Baba plants and a baby version of the Great Deku Tree. It's a really fun little set, and yes, I am considering contacting my bank so I can take out a loan to pick it up, why do you ask?

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off studio's next anime is a fresh take on cyberpunk classic Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell is coming back, this time with a new series from the studio behind Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

Most people will know Ghost in the Shell from its original classic '90s cyberpunk film directed by the legendary Mamoru Oshii - it's an iconic piece of animation, and did go on to spawn various sequel films and series too. But as good as the original film is, it isn't actually all that similar to the original manga by Masamune Shirow. The manga is a lot sillier for one, with protagonist Motoko Kusanagi being a lot more comedic than she is in the film, and for two it's also a lot… raunchier, we'll just say. And now, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Devilman Crybaby studio Science Saru has announced its working on a new anime series based on the manga due to release some time in 2026.

Pretty much nothing outside of its existence and release year have been confirmed, but a small teaser trailer was released, which you can watch above. I bring up the manga because all of the art is directly pulled from it, making me think that Science Saru's adaptation will be a lot closer to the original book. I certainly hope so, Science Saru as a studio have released some really wonderfully unique and fun works over the years, so it'd be a perfect fit for the goofier elements of the original manga. Obviously 2026 is still two years away though, so it'll be a while before we even get a proper trailer for the series.

Marvel Studios is making a Vision series for Disney Plus whether you want it or not

Disney CEO Bob Iger and Marvel honcho Kevin Feige have been spending the last few months admitting Marvel Studios' recent output largely hasn't been up to snuff and teasing we'll be getting less TV shows (which are also more concise) in the future. However, a (white) Vision series is happening and coming to Disney Plus.

Variety broke the shocking news, which confirms the long-gestating idea, born from WandaVision's season finale, has not been dropped nor moved to a larger big-screen project. Despite the slowdown on TV productions teased time and again, a Vision-centric series is moving forward, probably tying into a movie they really want to make.

Marvel has tapped Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas to cook up a project for Vision, the android still played by Paul Bettany. The new series is supposedly aiming to release in 2026, but a smooth creative process and genuinely good scripts should be required to deliver something that's worth our time. Matalas will serve as the sole showrunner unless there's one of those creative shakeups that we 'love' so much.

One simple question made localising Pokemon Crystal a lot more difficult than you would think

Pokemon Crystal was the first game to introduce gender options for the player character, but that made it a touch tricky to localise.

The first question you're faced with in Pokemon Crystal is potentially a simple one: "Are you a boy? Or are you a girl?" Granted, that isn't exactly the easiest question for everyone, but Pokemon Crystal only gives you the two options, so the process is still simple overall. It's not something you'd think about much these days, but was a pretty big deal for video games back in the day. However, the original localiser behind the Pokemon games right from the original Red and Blue right through to Platinum, Nob Ogasawara, has shared a neat little behind the scenes look into the process of localising such a choice, which turned out to be a bit more difficult than you might first expect.

Upon seeing the option, Ogasawara initially thought "'Hot dang, this is progress. It opens up gaming to girls.' (Yeah, naive. I'm glad they've gotten better.)" However, as he notes, "reality sank in. There's no gender-specific text. No options for, 'What's [v1] doing here?' v1 = he, she." What Ogasawara means by that, is that because Japanese isn't a gendered language in the way English is, and doesn't have specific pronouns that change depending on gender, there wasn't anything programmed to make the player character's pronouns change automatically based on whether they choose boy or girl, because that wouldn't be the case in Japanese.

The Home Alone house is up for sale, traps not included

Chances are you're a big fan of Home Alone (at least the first movie), but don't have pockets deep enough to buy the huge house featured in the movie. However, we're sure a big film aficionado with a few extra millions lying around will jump on it.

Via Deadline, we've learned the iconic house from the first movie, located in Winnetka, Illinois, has hit the market yet again. Back in 2012, it was sold for $1.585 million. Now, it's gone up to $5.250, though it remains to be seen whether that price will have to go down. Regardless, that's the North American housing market for you right now.

If you check out the latest pictures of the property, you'll quickly realize the Winnetka home has changed over the years. In fact, it was fully renovated and expanded in 2018. But of course "the owners kept the front of the stately brick crib exactly the same as depicted in the 1990 film." It's a five-bedroom, six-bathroom house with its own movie theater and a sports court, so even putting its Hollywood fame aside, it's a pretty impressive house. If you're curious about its current state and the listing, Kathryn Moor and Dawn McKenna of Coldwell Banker Realty hold the listing.

Square Enix finally, seemingly, gives a Dragon Quest 3 remake update, but the teaser feels a bit suspicious

It's been three years since Square Enix revealed its Dragon Quest 3 remake, and the developer has (probably) finally offered a small, odd update for it.

If you didn't know, May 27 in Japan is Dragon Quest day, as the very first game released on this day all the way back in 1986. Usually Square Enix has some kind of announcement for the series every year, with 2021 being the 35th anniversary of the series, leading to an announcement of both Dragon Quest 12, and an Octopath Traveler style HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 3. There's pretty much been no word on either title since then, and Square Enix has kept it a little quiet in terms of announcements so far today this year, but it did release a very short teaser for what appears to be the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake.

I say appears to be, because the teaser doesn't actually mention Dragon Quest 3 by name. It shows the series' overall emblem, the iconic Dragon Quest logo, and a logo for the HD-2D visual style, but nothing about Dragon Quest 3 specifically. There were some platforms listed below though, so we definitely know the game is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but overall the tease is a bit of an odd one. As posited by our own RPG and Square Enix expert Alex, it's very possible that this remake project might now be of the first three games rather than just the third one.

For better and for worse, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is an ambitious all-you-can-eat of Wasteland lore

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is smart enough to avoid trying to replicate Fury Road's miracle formula and relentless pacing, but doesn't always hit the mark. 'Too much of a good thing' is indeed a valid complaint here.

Clocking in at around 148 minutes, Furiosa is far weightier than you'd expect from a Mad Max movie. In a way, it's all the extra runtime that allows it to embrace a unique voice and more complex structure that make it more than just a riff on Fury Road or a simpler, Rogue One-ish prequel. It dovetails right into the 2015 masterpiece, much like the first-ever live-action Star Wars spin-off movie, but it's a far more expansive tale about the Wasteland and every major player involved in Fury Road and then some.

The severely underrated Mad Max video game by Avalanche Studios, which also arrived in 2015, also acted as a canonical prequel to the events of the last mainline movie, and Furiosa even acknowledges a couple of major characters and small plot points. If we assume Mad Max: The Wasteland is happening sooner or later and is yet another prequel, it seems that George Miller had a lot of mad worldbuilding done around the fourth Max-led flick.

Warner Bros. is allegedly "threatening to destroy" a popular YouTube modding channel over, er, some silly Mortal Kombat 1 videos

As popular as they might be, Warner Bros. has seemingly threatened to "destroy" YouTuber ToastedShoes' channel over his Mortal Kombat 1 mod videos.

While they can obviously get you in a bit of trouble, mods for fighting games are actually pretty popular, primarily because it's just plain old funny to watch the most random of people or characters duke it out (take this Mortal Kombat 1 Kendrick vs Drake mod, for example). However, YouTuber ToastedShoes has found himself in that aforementioned trouble, claiming that Warner Bros. is "threatening to destroy" his YouTube channel, leaving him uncertain in what he needs to do. ToastedShoes is known for a big range of popular modding videos, with Mortal Kombat 1 being amongst so of his most popular.

"This morning I received an IP Infringement Notification directly from Warner Brothers stating that the Mortal Kombat mods in my content 'infringe' on their intellectual property rights," ToastedShoes wrote on Twitter earlier this week. "I've been requested to delete all Mortal Kombat 1 videos from my channel or else they will issue copyright strikes and essentially delete my channel in its entirety.

Fortnite will finally be back on iOS late next year, alongside the Epic Games Store - well, in the UK at least

Fortnite has long been easily playable on iOS, but Epic has confirmed it'll finally be returning to Apple devices in the second half of 2025.

A few years ago, Apple removed Fornite from the App Store due to Epic letting users buy the battle royale's in-game currency elsewhere, circumnavigating the iPhone maker's 30% cut of all transactions. This then led to a big ole lawsuit between the pair, and currently the game is still not available on iOS. However, next year, that'll all change, as the official Fortnite Twitter account shared that both the game and the Epic Games Store will be coming to iOS in the UK in the second half of 2025. How is this possible? Well, it's all thanks to the UK's Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers act.

This particular act, as described on the UK government's own website, could "give consumers the room to freely choose the services they use, or stop companies from withholding information consumers need to make good decisions" as well as giving regulators "powers to intervene and direct a firm to change its behaviour to boost competition – whether that is to benefit people using smartphones or businesses dependent on cloud services."

Remember Skull and Bones? No? Well, Ubisoft is letting everyone play it for free for a week anyway

You might have forgotten Skull and Bones, but it's back to remind you it exists with an upcoming free week.

Oh boy. Skull and Bones was never going to come out to rave reviews, given just how many times it was delayed prior to its release. When it did finally launch in… February (yeesh, that really did just come and go, huh), it was ultimately met with quite average reviews, and on the physical sales front it sold less than a quarter of Sea of Thieves' launch figures, which doesn't sound great overall, even in a digital age. But perhaps all is not lost, as there is always the possibility Ubisoft will pull a No Man's Sky and actually bring Skull and Bones to the heights it could achieve (though I do doubt it). But even with that negative critical reception, it's always possible you want to try the game out for yourself, and you're in luck because from next week, it'll be available to play for free for an entire week!

As detailed on Ubisoft's website, Skull and Bones is getting a free week from May 30 to June 6 where you can "battle your way through treacherous waters, as you rise to become the most infamous pirate captain!" It goes on to explain that "during this free week, you are free to play any content you want, whether it is to progress through the main storyline or tackle challenging content with your friends." On top of that, "every achievement, every treasure, and every ship upgrade you unlock during the free week will be waiting for you" if you decide to purchase the game after the trial period ends.

Don't worry, story haters, Wuthering Waves will soon let you skip more of those pesky cutscenes

Wuthering Waves has had a slightly rough launch, but some changes are coming that should bring some quality of life improvements.

It's only been a few days since Wuthering Waves launched, and it's safe to say it hasn't been perfect - all those kind of hilarious visual bugs are a testament to that. But the dev team has at least outlined the known issues in the game, so it's not like fixes aren't coming for these sometime soon. However, for some players the issues don't just stop at the bugs. The official Wuthering Waves Twitter account has shared some other plans for updates that will be coming to the game based on feedback that players have offered for the game so far.

First up is the ability to skip more cutscenes. In a post covering gameplay issues and the plan for future improvements, "We have received your feedback regarding the Skip function including 'not enough skippable scenes,' 'UI design of the Skip button not readable enough,' and 'the main quest storyline feeling lengthy,'" reads the post. "We plan to optimize your experience by introducing support for skipping all types of scenes in storylines and reviewing functions for storyline scripts and cutscenes."

While you wait for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, you can pick up another game from the tabletop series for free

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is a few months out still, but those of you with a mind for strategy might be happy to hear about a currently free game.

Sure, strategy games aren't for everyone, but do you know what everyone does love? Free stuff! Particularly free games, considering how expensive they can be, and right now the 4X strategy game Warhammer 40K: Gladius - Relics of War is free across all the notable PC storefronts, including Steam, you can think of (thanks, PCGamesN). You'll want to act relatively quickly though, as it's only available for free until next week, Thursday, May 30, and once it's no longer free it'll shoot back up to $40 again (so you can see why the price of free is quite the bargain).

In Warhammer 40K: Gladius, you can "play as one of four iconic Warhammer factions (Astra Militarum, Space Marines, Orks or Necrons), each with their own unique playstyle and technology tree. Explore a randomly generated world filled with special features and threatening wildlife that can crush your troop's morale. Secure control of powerful ancient artefacts to grant you an edge against rival factions." On top of that you can build cities and fortifications to "expand your empire and produce an army to vanquish your foes" and each faction has its own unique storyline too. I'm not big into strategy games myself, but it certainly sounds like there's a lot on offer here.

2XKO makes a surprise showing at Combo Breaker

2XKO has made a surprise appearance at Combo Breaker 2024, allowing attendees to try out the latest demo build while wondering the tournament floor. If nothing else, this should make for an entertaining distraction from those who go 0-2 in bracket.

The build in question is the english version of the demo we saw shown off at Evo Japan 2024 - featuring the same playable cast we saw at Evo 2023 with the addition of Illaoi, as well as various gameplay adjustments. There are four custom cabinents in total, allowing for a maximum of eight players to play at once. There will likely be a line.

Aside from entertainment for the attendees, this will also provide ample opportunity for players who weren't able to make it out to Japan earlier this year to try out the game for themselves. Many of the changes and additions have already been explored by various influencers and pro players, but there's nothing quite like personally getting your hands on the game to see how things feel. Expect an influx of new impressions online from those trying it out for the first time.

Fortnite's Fallout stuff arrives today, because we all need to see a guy in power armour chug Nuka Cola while hitting the griddy

It's been a big few months for Fallout, mainly thanks to that little TV show you might have heard about, but also some updates to Fallout 4 that've, er, garnered a pretty mixed reaction. Now, though, the series has really made it into the mainstream - starting today, some stuff from it's in Fortnite.

Yup, stop worrying about your VATS not working like it should, it's time to shake your gyatt by hitting the default dance and skibidi toilet with high level rizz into the litness, my dudes. I'm 25, and life already scares me.

We'd already gotten a few sneak peeks at the T-60 power armour - very much the in-vogue power armour since Fallout 4 dropped - which is being added to Fortnite as part of Chapter 5 Season 3. Dubbed Wrecked, this season's also bringing bottles of Nuka Cola to the game, which you can chug to restore ypur health and a bit of shield.

Helldivers 2 players are on the way to earning a new mech, with a cool jet or bomb-based stratagem possibly to follow

If you've been a bit frustrated with the state of Helldivers 2 and are looking for reasons to jump back into the Galactic War - well, Arrowhead's here to provide 'em. The latest Major Order will reward a new mech if completed, and the studio's been taking community pitches for a new stratagem.

In case you missed it, Arrowhead's Johan Pilestedt recently stepped aside as CEO, in order to focus more heavily on helping oversee Helldivers 2's development. While the wider effects of this will likely take a little while to come to fruition, that hasn't stopped the developer from getting off to a quick start - he's already asked the community for some stratagem ideas they'd like to see become a thing.

Before we get to that, though let's start with this latest Major Order. The task is to liberate one planet - Varylia 5 - something players have already gotten around 30% of the way through as of writing. The reward would be "the dual-autocannon EXO-49 Emancipator exosuit", a mech that'll be possible to produce if an automaton "Petafactory" on the planet can be secured for Super Earth.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door review: a worthy new version of a must-play classic

Remaking a classic is always tricky. Video game development is like alchemy; that anyone happens upon the exact right combination of elements to make a true classic title is practically a miracle. Even saying that is a slight disservice, though - as the process is undoubtedly less scientific than that. All this is to say: it’s very easy to upset the cart ever so slightly with a remake or even remaster, and bam - just like that, it’s a classic no more.

But when the process works, it’s a joy. Twenty years on from its GameCube release, Paper Mario: THe Thousand Year Door is back - and it’s as brilliant as it ever was. That makes it one of Mario’s best spin-off outings, by the way.

The Thousand Year Door stands apart from the Paper Mario titles since with a simple, vital fact: it is a role-playing game. A proper one. That to me is the template that the Paper Mario series should follow, especially given its status as a de-facto follow-up to Super Mario RPG, which also enjoyed a Nintendo Switch remake.

Relive your best Twisted Metal days with the free Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks beta, playable right now

Not everything revealed today at Warhammer Skulls was all serious, sometimes you have to get a little silly. This is clearly what Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks, the combat racer from Caged Element, represents.

Remembering Total War Three Kingdoms, 5 years later – a game too good to be left behind

If there's one Total War game I keep coming back to, on those late nights when I hunger for the series' beloved brand of tactical management gameplay, it's Total War Three Kingdoms. A delve into the romantic depiction of China's great history, a time where acts of heroism placed generals and tacticians in the pantheon alongside gods. A great revolution thwarted, legendary betrayals and alliances, and a country engulfed in flames. It is one of my feel good games - the great stress diluter - and it stands today a butchered pariah. A game whose life was cut short, and ultimately resigned to history.

But how did this happen? Well, back in 2022 the Creative Assembly team behind Three Kingdoms announced that development on the game's post-launch DLC would cease in favour of a sequel of sorts.

This new project, set within the Three Kingdoms universe, was met with some skeptisism. Many enjoyed the Three Kingdoms they had, and weren't ready to move onto a new game only two years after its release. Others, myself included at the time, were excited at what a sequel could bring. In my mind the team had proven themselves, and while I was bummed out to here the game I loved would be cut short of DLC, I could live with that as long as an exciting new game would come in its place.

Sony's vision for the future includes a controller that looks like a ring light with joysticks, and, er, Horizon Zero Dawn

Ok. So, as part of a corporate strategy meeting, Sony's decided to give us all a look at its "Creative Entertainment Vision" - basically what it thinks the world might look like from its perspective in ten years time. What's in the forecast for 2034, you ask? Well, some floaty gadgets and an open-world game that's just alright.

That's not to say the company isn't aiming high though, having even gone as far as creating renders for a game that's set to come out in 2035 - that's in this video's timeline, I stress, we don't know if this title about a woman just kinda flying through space will actually be a thing in the real world (I'd guess not).

Yup, if you check out the two minute-ish long glimpse that shows Sony's vision - you'll see some interesting things. There's some people standing around a futuristic table putting personal touches on that game I mentioned above - it's dubbed Ignition, but isn't the 90s racing game - by using their fingers to mainputate stuff hanging in the air.

Helldivers 2 boss wastes no time outlining plans to improve game, starting with need to get more devs playing

In case you missed it, Arrowhead's Johan Pilestedt stepped aside as CEO of the studio yesterday, in order to focus more heavily on helping to develop Helldivers 2 from a creative perspective. He looks to be wasting no time in starting to tackle the game's percieved issues either, having already outlined some thoughts and plans to folks on Twitter.

Now serving solely as a chief creative officer and chairman at Arrowhead, having forked over a lot of the his business resposiblities to new CEO Shams Jorjani, it's not too surprising to see Pilestedt immediately engaging with the game's community in a pretty open manner. Even if odds are it'll probably take a little while for the changes some players are hoping for to actually start arriving in game.

In responses to a bunch of players commenting on his tweet about the role switch, Pilestedt's said a whole bunch about the current state of Helldivers 2 and what steps he and the studio'll be taking to try and remedy them.

Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle made me a believer in sports anime

You know, in all my years of watching anime, the one sub-genre I've never really gotten into is sports anime. To be honest, that most likely comes from the fact I just don't care for real world sports all that much - everything takes too long and the drama of it all can feel a bit too forced for my liking. But there is one series that I've been meaning to check out for a long while, and have consistently said to myself that I'll watch it eventually, because everyone I know that's watched it loves it more than anything: Haikyu.

This isn't about me watching Haikyu, I'm sorry to say. Or, well, it is, just not the series. As silly as it might sound, I'm here today to tell you about Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, and yes, I recognise that I'm kind of starting at the end of the series, but hey ho, what better way to decide whether you want to check something out than via a breezy, roughly 90 minute long movie? There is of course the question of whether it's even enjoyable for someone that knows nothing about Haikyu, one of the main reasons I actually wanted to check it out, but we'll get back to that.

Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle follows on right after the fourth season, with Shoyo Hinata and the rest of Karasuno High's volleyball team facing off against their rivals Nekoma at the Spring Nationals tournament. It's the first official match between the two schools, despite them having played against each other before, so the stakes are raised slightly on this occasion, for obvious reasons (and as a note, the whole film is just one match, so don't expect all that much downtime). Right off the bat, as someone that again, literally knew next-to-nothing about the series, the biggest surprise is who the main focus of the film actually is.

The Boys' creator wants to make the show a touch more supernatural with a specific cast addition

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke is looking ahead to future cast members, and he's certainly interested in adding Supernatural star Jared Padalecki for at least one episode.

When you think of Jensen Ackles, you almost definitely will think about his former Supernatural costar Jared Padalecki. They were on that show for so long together, it's hard not to, and seemingly Kripke thinks similarly. The Boys showrunner recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his hopes to bring Padalecki on board in some capacity, telling the outlet that "Texts have been sent." He went to say the he feels "like it would be a bummer to not have Jared on the show one way or another at this point, even if it's just the one-episode thing. He's been shooting Walker, but with that show wrapping up, maybe he'll have some time to come in and play with us. I would love it. We have definitely talked about it."

That quote from Kripke apparently came a few days before news emerged about the Padalecki-led show Walker having been cancelled. With that cancellation, as Kripke noted, Padalecki will have a bit more time on his hands, and quite conveniently, Amazon renewed The Boys for a fifth season just last week. That renewal has come a little early, actually, as season 4 of the popular Prime Video series isn't set to debut on the service until June 13, an entire month away, but when it does arrive it'll do so with three whole episodes before switching to a weekly release.

Sorry, Godzilla x Kong fans, but it sounds like director Adam Wingard won't be back for a sequel

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has done very well at the box office, but Adam Wingard reportedly won't be back for the next one.

It's clear that audiences just love big ole monsters duking it out, as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire surpassed $563 million at the box office earlier this week, positioning it to take the top spot in the MonsterVerse's rankings (Kong: Skull Island took home $568 million at the box office). But money isn't everything, as The Hollywood Reporter has claimed that Wingard won't be back for another sequel, despite being interested in having more stories to tell in that world. This is apparently because Wingard is now attached to direct the A24 project Onslaught, an action thriller, where he'll be working with his regular work partner Simon Barrett (they made You're Next and The Guest together).

The Hollywood Reporter claims that with Wingard set to shoot this next, this didn't fit into Legendary's plans to quickly move on to another instalment in its MonsterVerse. An earlier hint that Wingard had split off from directing the next entry is that the sequel has attached Dave Callaham, best known for writing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and co-writing Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Now, according to THR's sources, the split between Wingard and Legendary is official. This obviously leaves Legendary looking for a new director, but if it's looking to get moving quickly, it probably won't be long before someone gets attached.

Hot off of the success of X-Men '97, the MCU seemingly finds a writer for its own X-Men film

The X-Men have been teased in the MCU for a little while now, but it's sounding like a film of their own is finally in the works.

In films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and series like Ms. Marvel, the MCU has slowly been sowing the seeds of the X-Men, with the former having an alternate universe of Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier slightly unceremoniously killed off, and the latter retconning Ms. Marvel to be a mutant as opposed to an Inhuman. Now, as reported by Deadline, it sounds like Marvel is getting its ass in gear with the X-Men. According to Deadline's report, Michael Lesslie, the original writer behind the Assassin's Creed movie, as well as last year's The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, is currently in negotiations to write the screenplay for an X-Men film.

Deadline also writes that the film is still in early development, with no talent or director currently attached, and no release date currently planned. You probably also won't be surprised to hear that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is attached to produce, but then when isn't he? Both Marvel and Disney have recently found success in the nostalgic throwback/ comeback series X-Men '97, which is set to get a second season, though Marvel's streaming boss would like you to remember that animation takes quite a while, so don't expect it any time soon.

Shadow of the Erdtree story trailer tells a Messmerising tale of Elden Ring's big expansion

As promised, FromSoftware has released a fresh look at Shadow of the Erdtree, the massive expansion coming to Elden Ring in just a few weeks. This new story trailer is full of new footage, though most of it is CG.

The trailer is fairly beefy, clocking in at about three minutes. Though it does offer an updated look at the inciting events behind the DLC's story, it's mainly a mood piece more than anything.

The '80s continues to refuse to die a dignified death as Apple's Time Bandits finally gets a release date

The '80s just seems to be repeating on loop, as Apple finally confirms the release date for its TV adaptation of Time Bandits.

Look, I get it, to some of you, the '80s was this fun decade that reinvented pop culture, but to someone that wasn't even born then, seeing nostalgia for it or reboots from that era is just starting to feel a bit rote. But, here we are, with an announcement from Apple that its "first-ever television adaptation of cult classic" Time Bandits is finally out this coming July 24. The series will of course be streaming on the hardware and software maker's Apple TV+, so you'll have to add another subscription to your list if you are at all interested in checking out this remake. The series is also notably led by Flight of the Conchords' Jermaine Clement, The Inbetweeners' Iain Morris, and Our Flag Means Death's Taika Waititi, so it's possible it'll be a little funny at the very least.

Apple writes of the show in a press release, "guided by Lisa Kudrow, the eccentric crew of bandits embark on epic adventures while evil forces threaten their conquests and life as they know it. As the group transports through time and space, the gang stumbles upon fascinating worlds of the distant past while seeking out treasure, depending on Kevin to shed light on each situation. The Time Bandits witness the creation of Stonehenge, see the Trojan Horse in action, escape dinosaurs in the prehistoric ages, wreak havoc during medieval times, experience the ice age, ancient civilizations, the Harlem Renaissance, and much more along the way."

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 review – it’s the intrusive thought that counts

Intrusive thoughts are impossible to live with. Cloying, claustrophobic, incessant, inescapable. Radio chatter from a distant room you can’t turn off at best, some hot, odorous wet breath in your ear at worst. They might have your voice, but they’re not your words, not really. They’re unfiltered, almost primal, a communion with bits of yourself you might never know – or have wanted to know – existed. This is where Hellblade 2 gets it right, because the intrusive thoughts are agonizing.

But they’re supposed to be. That’s the point. Xbox’s very adult and very serious series has, within two games, made itself totemic of two things; portraying mental health, and looking good whilst doing it. As far as these two very separate vocations go, Hellblade 2 nails it. At first, I was so aggrieved by the chattering voices (realised in binaural sound so it sounds like they’re planted somewhere in your bastard skull) that I searched the vast suite of accessibility options to see if I could turn them off.

But that’s the point, isn’t it? These spectres dug into Senua’s conscience like a pair of blood-hungry ticks are never going away. They’re going to offer commentary on everything you do, all the time. ‘You’re not good enough to solve this puzzle’. ‘God, this level goes on a bit, ey?’ ‘Hell yeah, you’re smashing this combat encounter!’ ‘Oh no, the boss is absolutely destroying you!’

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 launch trailer is here to remind you that it's out tomorrow

The launch trailer for Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is here, in case you need a reminder that it is, in fact, out tomorrow.

There hasn't been all that much promo from Xbox with the upcoming Hellblade sequel from Ninja Theory, so it'd be understandable if you didn't realise it was coming out tomorrow, May 21. I for one missed that it was out so soon until recently, a point that has made some a bit nervous given the fact that Microsoft just shut down Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks. But, at the very least, Xbox has now shared Hellblade 2's official launch trailer, offering a moody look at the game ahead of its release tomorrow set to Animal Soul by Aurora. You can say what you like about the content of the trailer (it is mostly just contextless, vaguely emotional looking shots of people and Senua running), but you certainly can't knock how the game looks visually.

As described on the game's Steam page, in the sequel "Senua returns in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without." Gameplay will be similar to its predecessor, with puzzles and such, and combat has been revamped a bit to make every sword swing have a heavier weight to it.

MultiVersus is finally relaunching next week, and it's bringing the iconic duo, er, Jason Voorhees and The Matrix's Agent Smith with it

After facing controversy for a lengthy offline period, MultiVersus is back with its full launch next week, and it's adding a funny pairing of characters with it.

Earlier today, Player First Games released its launch trailer for MultiVersus, which is finally coming back next week, May 28. The trailer is all CG, showing characters like Finn and Velma facing off against Bugs Bunny and The Joker, and Marvin the Martian and the Iron Giant against Cake the Cat and Stripe. All of this culminates with a bunch of the game's playable characters eventually arriving at Game of Thrones' Iron Throne, with The Joker perched on it, quite clearly outnumbered.

Of course, he has some backup, as a couple more classic villains warp in: Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees, and The Matrix's Agent Smith. Alright, a bit of an odd combo, but hey, if you've got the IP, use it I suppose? They are of course new additions, alongside The Joker himself, though I do have to say adding in Agent Smith before Neo is a bit of an odd choice.

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer opens new Warsaw studio, as work on "two very ambitious RPGs" properly gets going

Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian has opened up a new studio in the Polish city of Warsaw. Why? Well, it's causally expanding its influence as it "ramps up" development on "two very ambitious RPGs" that we're definitely not all getting quite hyped up about.

Yup, while Baldur's Gate 4 won't be coming from the folks behind BG3, and the "very big RPG that will rule them all" that Swen Vincke's talked about seems like it's still a ways off, Larian's doing some growing.

Announced via a tweet, the new studio is called Larian Studios Warsaw, and is based, as you'd expect, in the Polish capital. "With two very ambitious RPGs now starting development," the developer wrote, "what better way to see our visions realised than by growing the team and opening a 7th studio in the heart of Poland’s lively gaming scene!"

Sony keeps finding success on PC as Ghost of Tsushima manages to take over God of War as PlayStation's biggest Steam launch

Ghost of Tsushima might have had a slightly slower start than God of War on PC, but over the weekend it took the top spot for PlayStation's biggest PC launch.

Sony has slowly but surely been bringing some of its biggest names to PC over the past few years, and God of War has kept the top spot in terms of launch numbers since it arrived on the platform in 2022. That is, until last week, when Ghost of Tsushima finally arrived on PC. The Sucker Punch developed game didn't quite manage to reach God of War's heights at first, only hitting just under 58,000 concurrent players the first day after launch compared to Kratos' peak of just under 74,000 players. However, it turns out that all Ghost of Tsushima needed was a little bit of time, as over the weekend quite a few more players flocked to it, helping it reach a peak of 77,154, a good amount higher than God of War's own record (via SteamDB).

That weekend boost has dethroned God of War's long-held record, knocking down Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered to third place too with its own peak of 66,436 concurrent players. Of course, all of this is ignoring Helldivers 2, though that one's a bit of a special case given it launched simultaneously on PlayStation and PC, whereas titles like Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered released on PC years after their PlayStation launches.

Hate waiting to play your Xbox games because of a new update? Don't worry, you'll soon be able to pre-download them

Xbox will soon let you pre-download game updates before their scheduled release so you can make your life just that little bit easier.

Look, in this day and age, we all know game updates are a necessary thing, but that doesn't make them any less annoying. I'm not gonna do that whole thing of "remember when you could just pop a game in and it would just be ready to play, no installing, no downloading" but I do miss those days. However, I do appreciate when my life is made easier when it comes to those annoying fiddly bits. For example, Microsoft has announced that you'll soon be able to pre-download updates for games before they're meant to be out, a feature that'll surely be welcome for fans of online games in particular.

The feature is actually already available to Xbox Insider members, with the Xbox Update Preview released on the Alpha ring as of a few days ago. "Games that enable support for update pre-download will allow updates to be downloaded days before they are scheduled to release, so you can jump in and start playing right when the update goes live," reads a description for the feature. To be clear, that means this won't be the case for every game, so don't get mad at me when the main title in your rotation doesn't work with this feature.

As GTA 6 aims for a late 2025 release, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser's new game gets some fresh details

Rockstar is slowly gearing up for Grand Theft Auto 6's release, and as it does so, some new details about co-founder Dan Houser's new game have been confirmed.

Back in 2020, Houser left Rockstar 22 years after founding the company, revealing his new studio Absurd Ventures in Games the following year. The company was described as providing "ready-made interactive leisure and entertainment software development," and since its announcement, not much has been confirmed in the way of what it's actually working on. Well, as spotted by GamesRadar, we do now have some details on the studio's first game, thanks to some recent job listings. The listing for a lead gameplay designer role noted that the role will see the selected candidate become "the primary vision holder and hands-on contributor for character, controls, and camera design in an open world action-adventure game."

It also makes mention of the role needing to deliver "best-in-class combat and third person action across multiple game modes" so it sounds like the game might not just be a single-player title. Following this, Absurd Adventures announced its first project, which isn't actually a game at all, but an audio fiction series called A Better Paradise, a sci-fi story "set in the near future" that "tells the story of the ill-fated development of an ambitious but addictive digital game-world project led by inventor and psychologist, Dr. Mark Tyburn."

Elden Ring's latest monstrous reveal has me hoping Shadow of the Erdtree will be the Bloodborne 2 we never got

The official Elden Ring Twitter account has dropped a new look at one of Shadow of the Erdtree's many terrible monsters, and the Bloodborne vibes are very strong.

Much like every other Bloodborne fan under the sun, I too am bitter that it never got a sequel. Given the fact there's only one of them, it still stands as one of FromSoftware's most unique games, and even now I hold out hope we'll get another, even if that is entirely misguided. Luckily for me, Elden Ring had a touch of Bloodborne vibes here and there, what with the occasional Eldritch horror the RPG contained and all. Think bosses like Astel Naturalborn of the Void - you can't convince me it wouldn't fit in perfectly with Bloodborne's boss fights. And thanks to a newly shared image from the official Elden Ring Twitter, it seems like those Bloodborne vibes will stretch into Shadow of the Erdtree above.

You can see in the tweet above what this new monster looks like, and uh, yeah, the vibes are truly and wonderfully effed on this one. Anyone with an ounce of biology knowledge can probably tell what the specific posing of who or whatever this is is referring to, a perfect fit for Bloodborne's themes. It also looks like it could truly mess you up with those blades, so I'm looking forward to dying to it 30 times in a row.

What are you playing this weekend?

With the weekend comes time to do what we like. Okay, sometimes there are things we have to do, but it's mainly a break from responsibilities and the doldrums that made up the week.

This weekend, some of us have caught the Hades-fever which probably isn’t a bad fever to have, from what I’ve heard. Others are revisiting prior releases they enjoy immensely, and others are also finding time to do fun extracurriculars that have nothing to do with games.

Here’s what we’re getting into this weekend:

Jurassic World Evolution 2's follow-up should also look to Netflix's animated series for inspiration

After stumbling late last year with Warhammer: Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin and following some side projects that didn't pay off, Frontier Developments announced they were refocusing on sim games for the foreseeable. The British video game developer has excelled over the years with titles such as Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster, but the two Jurassic World Evolution games performed well above expectations, so of course a third one is coming.

The announcement dropped out of nowhere last week and came straight from Frontier, who acknowledged how much of a huge win the ongoing collaboration with Universal had been so far. Mind you, the press release didn't outright confirm their next game is Jurassic World Evolution 3, but given their recent strategy shift and how well that series has sold so far (including DLCs), it's hard to imagine the developer suddenly starting to work on a Jurassic World game in another genre.

While the first Jurassic World Evolution had a number of shortcomings — many of which were ironed out over time through free updates and paid DLC — and lacked many key features such as flying and marine prehistoric animals, it established a solid foundation to build upon, and Jurassic Park/World fans were more than happy with it after waiting for a spiritual successor to Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis for 15 years.

Reports now say Call of Duty 2024 is definitely, for real, coming to Game Pass

Xbox is reportedly set to add this year's Call of Duty - which is yet to be officially revealed - to Game Pass at launch, in what would be a first for the series and publisher. Naturally, this could in theory mean those with a subscription to the service would be able to grab the game without paying the usual price.

This is according to The Wall Street Journal, which reports that Microsoft will announce CoD's impending arrival on Game Pass during its showcase on June 9. The reported change would mark a very noteworthy shift in strategy from Xbox, with the debate as to whether Call of Duty is of more worth to the console maker within or outside of Game Pass having been a big point of debate in recent months.

The two sides of the discussion are these. Is it better to keep on selling Call of Duty games in traditional fashion at full price, as Activision has to this point, earning a lot of cash since the series is usually one of - if not the - the top selling titles on the market annualy? Or, would the boost to Game Pass that'd likely come with putting the games onto the service at launch be worth undermining those strong traditional sales numbers?

Minecraft anniversary easter egg lets you celebrate by physically fighting the Minecraft movie - kind of

Good news, people with a desire to virtually hit things, one of the many things that're going on in celebration of Minecraft's 15th anniversary can cater to that need. Especially if you fancy having a barney with the upcoming Minecraft movie, at least in a manner of speaking.

This is hardly the only thing going on to celebrate the anniversary, with the option to claim 500 Minecoins for free being another, along with 15 days' worth of new character creator items designed to represent "a different year of Minecraft history". Because, you know, the block game is basically like a small country in terms of depth of lore and heritage nowadays.

Anyway, back to the good stuff. This easter egg I'm talking about is a little widget that currently pops up if you search, well, 'Minecraft' via your Chrome browser. If you click on the block, your cursor's swapped out for the square arm of Steve, allowing you to mash away at the search results as through they're a tree you're punching to death in the game because you need wood, night's coming, and you don't want to end up back in your bed-wetting phase.

Do you understand what Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick is saying here about Roll7 and Intercept? Someone make it make sense

Ok, so, you remember when it looked an awful lot like Take-Two was shutting down both Kerbal Space Program 2 developer Intercept Games and Roll7 - the studio behind Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World - earlier this month? Well, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has now said that it "didn't shutter" the studios, leaving us all wondering whether they still, er, actually exist.

Yes, this is a thing. If you're out of the loop, the shutterings - hinted at by internal documentation from Roll7 and a notice filed with the Washington State Employment Security Department - were reportedly part of cuts Take-Two revealed plans for via an SEC filing in April. Naturally, both people in the industry and players weren't exactly pleased to hear either bit of news, but Zelnick now seems to have cast some doubt over what's actually happening in pretty baffling fashion.

In response to IGN asking during yesterday's Take-Two earnings call why the apparent closures of Intercept and Roll7 had happened, the CEO said the following:

Dauntless and Fae Farm dev Phoenix Labs the latest to be hit by layoffs, cancelling a game mere weeks from its reveal

Yet another video game developer has been hit by layoffs. This time it's the Dauntless and Fae Farm developer Phoenix Labs, which posted its announcement regarding restructuring on LinkedIn late last night.

The statement goes as follows: "Today is an incredibly difficult day. After a long period of evaluating how to navigate our economic environment, we have to significantly restructure the company to pave the path for a strong future. We are reorganizing Phoenix Labs to focus on our best-in-class live service titles, Dauntless and Fae Farm, and serving their communities."

It continues by acknowledging the cost of such a venture. "This unfortunately means cancelling work on all other projects at the studio, which will impact many of our colleagues immediately. We are giving notices to everyone whose roles are affected. The restructure has not come easily, and has truly been the last resort to ensure Phoenix Labs can survive, and thrive in the long term. It's impossible to put into words how deeply we value every talented individual who has contributed their hard work and passion to every project at our studio."

Take-Two narrows down GTA 6's release date to fall 2025, as GTA 5 breezes past an incredible 200 million copies sold

You can chill out. Take-Two has narrowed down the release window for GTA 6 from a year to a month in that year. Yup, despite the rumours of delays possibly pushing the game from 2025 to 2026, we've now had officialy word it's coming in fall 2025. Also, GTA 5 continues to fly off the shelves.

While the GTA 6 hype train has been properly chugging away since late last year, when that first trailer arrived, we'd heard some potentially concerning things about its development in the interim. It seems as though you needn't worry though, you should be getting the thing next year.

As part of its latest earnings report, Take-Two has officially confirmed that it's aiming to release GTA 6 in fall 2025 - that's autumn for us here in the UK - narrowing down the 2025 release window it'd previously cited.

The first Dune: Prophecy trailer takes us back ten millennia before the birth of Paul Atreides, and things look almost the same

With Dune: Part Two in the rear view mirror and everyone looking towards the Dune: Messiah adaptation next, you'd think the franchise would be taking some time away from our screens...and you'd be wrong. Dune: Prophecy is coming to Max this fall.

The series takes place approximately 10,000 years before Paul Atreides was born, which is roughly 10,000 years after our time. The Dune universe's timeline is wild, and mankind has gone through a lot of common sci-fi scenarios, such as the violent crusade against sentient machines (the Butlerian Jihad) and whatnot. Anyway, the main takeaway from this trailer, which you can watch here, is that things looks a bit too similar to what we've been presented with in Denis Villeneuve's Dune movies.

Don't get me wrong, the show looks fine so far, especially for what's essentially an early teaser trailer that still needs a lot of post-production work, but it seems that the creative shakeup that took place last year, with the original showrunner (Diane Ademu-John) being replaced and Chernobyl's Johan Renck departing as the director behind the first few episodes due to creative differences, really brought the long-in-the-works series much closer to the highly successful movies from Warner Bros. and Legendary. We'll get to see many more worlds and different cultures though.
