The launch of Overwatch 2 saw a huge variety of changes made to the massively-popular team-based shooter, and a lucky discovery at a Target store has led many in the game's community to reminisce on one of the big features that players wish was transferred to the sequel. New heroes, cosmetics, maps, and more are just some of the additions brought along with Overwatch 2 so far, though not all the game's ambitious new features have gone down well with fans.

Hilarious Image Proves Why Diablo 4 Players Should Fear Quillrats
Hardcore characters are never really out of danger as one Diablo 4 player proves that even the smallest of enemies can abruptly end a run, even at extremely high levels. While Diablo 4 saw plenty of praise from both critics and players at launch, there were certainly no shortage of growing pains to work through. While players have some issues with the core parts of the game, including the Diablo 4 microtransaction store, server based issues cropped up on occasion, keeping players from being able to log in at all.

Diablo 4’s next patch expands stash, buffs Sorcerers, cuts respec costs, and more
Diablo 4's pre-season patch was a bit of a disaster. Though it did bring the anticipated Season of the Malignant content to the game, much of that excitement was sucked out because of what patch 1.1 did to the game.
Although it's standard for big patches that kick off new seasons to feature sweeping changes to the meta, this one was a little too much for the young game. Blizzard flattened XP gain (making the grind slower), nerfed all classes, plugged a few power-levelling holes that groups relied on, reduced the effectiveness of some crutch stats without offering alternatives - just to name a few.
It caused a storm of criticism that Blizzard had to host an emergency livestream to address the feedback. While the chat was fairly positive, the developer wasn't ready to backtrack on any of the bigger changes in patch 1.1. Instead, we got a small hotfix that made Nightmare Dungeons more bearable, and fixed a few bugs.

Blizzard changing its entire Diablo 4 patching process after 1.1 controversy
Friday's Diablo 4 stream was a wild moment for the game and its community. The emergency livestream was Blizzard's way of rapidly responding to the overwhelmingly negative feedback the game's latest patch received.
Patch 1.1 demonstrated a heavy-handed approach in balance; nerfing all classes, flattening the XP curve, blocking several power-levelling methods, and significantly reducing the effectiveness of some key stats - all while players were getting ready to jump into Diablo 4's Season of the Malignant.
Needless to say, it didn't go down well. The good news is that Blizzard is quite aware of why players are upset, and the developer plans to address some of their concerns soon - but most of the changes are staying.

Now you can pet your very own Elden Ring dog
Elden Ring may be well over a year old at this point, but that doesn't mean we've forgotten about one of our favourite characters from the game. But what if you don't have to go into the game to hang out with them?
Well, collectible maker Youtooz has partnered with Bandai Namco to create a range of plushies based on Elden Ring characters, including everyone's favourite: Miriel, the Pastor of Vows, and ever-comforting presence at the Church of Vows.
Or, as the community has taken to calling them: Dog! If you're unfamiliar, the 'dog' meme is one born from the player messages many have left around Miriel. When they're not helping other players get to hidden areas or find out-of-the-way treasures, player messages would be trolling them, convincing some unfortunate souls to jump to their deaths with the promise that it's totally safe.

Exoprimal review: A blast from the past with an uncertain future
Every now and again, you come across a game that's a genuine surprise. I'm willing to bet that I, alongside many others out there who caught an early trailer for Exoprimal around a year ago shrugged it off as Capcom's attempt to cash in on some of that juicy live service wonga. I do still believe Exoprimal is an attempt to do so, but as far as cynical follow-ups to Overwatch go, it's certainly one of my favourites.
That reality is something I'm still slowly getting over. Exoprimal is a PvPvE team-based objective-based dinosaur word salad of a game that blends many tried-and-true aspects of the live service market with its own distinct style. The unique selling point of Exoprimal has been obvious ever since the game was first announced back in 2022: this is the game where you get to pilot cool robots and blow dinosaurs into a million pieces. It's an unashamedly honest premise that I frankly do love – and one that doesn't lose its lustre once you hit credits.
You, as the pilot of one of ten distinct exo suits each with its own distinct spread of attacks and abilities, are thrust alongside four other pilots into a race against time. Each dino survival mission (currently the only game mode available in Exoprimal) places two teams against one each other in a mad dash to complete identical objectives before they are teleported to a shared final location where a victor is decided.

EA Responds to Fans’ Worries About Player Faces in FC 24
The reveal of EA Sports FC 24's cover art has been less than positive, with many players poking fun at the faces of the many players seen on the ultimate edition, but EA is now assuring the in-game visuals will deliver at the game's release. Despite featuring the star power of Pele and David Beckham on the cover, there has been no shortage of jokes about their potential in-game designs as part of EA's first post-FIFA soccer game. The game is set to run on DICE's Frostbite engine, which serves as the de-facto engine for most of EA's biggest titles, which may give players an idea of what the in-game faces will be.

You can earn Diablo 4's premium currency in the battle pass, but not enough to buy the next one
There is a lot riding on the launch of the first Diablo 4 season. Unlike the old style of Diablo seasons, Season of the Malignant will introduce a more traditional battle pass, new content, new items and the sort of content drop you expect from Call of Duty, Fortnite etc.
Well, maybe not that much content, but this is still a style of season and battle pass modern players are familiar with from all the other major live service games. That comes with expectations, of course, and the ability to earn premium currency as part of the battle pass is one such reward many expect to see.
In Call of Duty's case - another Activision Blizzard game - by finishing all tiers of the battle pass, players earn enough premium currency to purchase the next one. Considering how much of Diablo 4's monetisation was modelled after Call of Duty, you'd expect the same to be true here as well.

Hit PS5 launch game heads to iPhone and iPad, but not Apple Arcade
Strange snack-animal hybrids are coming to an iOS device near you, as developer Young Horses has revealed that Bugsnax will arrive on iPhone and iPad on July 12.
Those who consider exploring Snaktooth Island on iPhone or iPad will also have access to the previously released DLC, The Isle of BIGsnax, and will be experiencing an entirely new control scheme that utilizes the touch screen of iOS devices. On top of that, you don't need to use the touch screen if you don’t fancy it, as the mobile version of the game will also support a “wide array of third party gamepads.” Wahey!
For those not familiar, what do you have to look forward to in Bugsnax? Well, this quirky title sees you paying a visit to the fearless explorer, Elizabert Megafig. However, when you arrive on Snaktooth Island, Elizabert is nowhere to be found, with her camp in complete disarray.

Silent Hill creator's next game Slitterhead gets an early look at gameplay and a playable dog
While it's only "early development footage," Bokeh Game Studio has given us a look at gameplay in its upcoming horror action game Slitterhead.
Announced back in 2021, Slitterhead is the latest title from Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama. But since its announcement we haven't seen anything from it, though developer Bokeh Game Studio has been uploading various behind the scenes videos on its YouTube channel over the past two years. Its latest video is all about user tests, and in it we got a glimpse at what gameplay might be like - and most importantly, it showed off that you get to play as multiple characters, including a dog.
Most of the gameplay footage is recorded off of a screen, all of it being quite brief. Unlike the Silent Hill series, which wasn't particularly action heavy, Slitterhead will seemingly be more so, as one of the characters shown off has what looks to be large claws coming from their hands, like X-Men's Wolverine. Another character is seen wearing a long black coat and uses a much more Silent-Hill-like bloody pole to fend off some kind of parasitic-looking enemy that uses an uncomfortably long tongue to whip you.

Fallout 4 Player Gets Incredible Drop Off Radroach Kill
It's not often that radroaches can be considered a good source of loot, yet one incredibly lucky Fallout 4 player beat the odds to get an incredibly powerful weapon from this iconic Fallout foe. Video games famously have that one enemy type to test beginner players with or to help introduce the mechanics of combat. The Elder Scrolls has mudcrabs, Diablo has the Fallen, and for the Fallout franchise under Bethesda, that's always been the radroach. Enlarged by mutation, radroaches in Fallout 4 are some of the easiest enemies that players can come across in the irradiated wastelands of the Commonwealth.

Street Fighter 6's first new DLC character looks like a breath of fresh air
Rashid - the first DLC character for Street Fighter 6 - is coming to the game July 24.
A fan favourite from Street Fighter 4, Rashid is a devastating rushdown character able to leap high and engage with tricky aerial setups with his win-based kit. He can also throw tornadoes at you, which y'know, is cool! Rashid is also the series' first middle eastern character, so it's lush seeing him make a return.
His reveal comes with a brand-new trailer showcasing his moveset. We see a lot of his older move list returning, as well as some truly despicable combos. With the character dropping just before Evo, you can be sure people will be grinding him out and digging up as much potential as they can.

CEO 2023 is the FGC at its inclusive best, even as it faces down looming anti-LGBTQ+ laws
On March 6, 2023, house bill 1521 was filed by Florida-based government officials. It would strictly determine what bathrooms people could use based on their assigned gender at birth – an attempt to prohibit the freedoms of non-binary people within the state. This bill, part of a wider political assault on the transgender population currently taking place in the USA, is set to go into effect today, July 1.
Just one week prior to this date was CEO 2023. A community born-and-bred fighting game event held in Daytona Beach, it has been the largest event in the state for over a decade. CEO, or Community Effort Orlando, was created as a hub not just for Florida natives slinging sticks and plinking buttons, but national and international fighters that wanted to get together and share a love for the genre.
But, 13 years after the dream started to come true for Florida's scrappy FGC underbelly, 2023's CEO may have been the last hurrah for a community looking down the barrel of growing social and legal prejudice all around them.

Fortnite V-Bucks and Fall Guys Show-Bucks are getting more expensive in some regions, blame inflation
If you’re an avid fan of Fortnite or Fall Guys (and all the cosmetics that each game has on offer), I have some bad news for you. Or, good news, if you happen to be based in Mexico. Epic Games has announced that it will be changing the prices of each game's currency in some regions: Fortnite’s V Bucks, and Fall Guys' Show-Bucks.
According to the announcement on Epic Games’ website, these price changes are “based on economic factors like inflation and currency fluctuations.”
This will always seem extremely daft to me, considering these in-game currencies are not real money, but what do I know when it comes to economics and what goes on behind closed doors at Epic? Either way, the price changes will become effective in the UK, Canada, and Mexico from July 17.
